Art in the Park -Printmaking from Nature with Carol Vossler

This event is no longer on sale.

Monday July 13

10:00 AM  –  1:00 PM

Using nature as our inspiration, this hands-on printmaking workshop will focus on generating a series of prints from nature.  With basic printmaking techniques, participants will create unique monoprints on a printing plate and then run them through a small table press for a one of a kind work piece. We may work from a collection of natural objects such as flowers, leaves, and more to do direct printing from the natural objects. All inks are water-based and non-toxic. No prior printmaking experience is necessary.

Artist Bio: Carol Vossler is founder and Artistic Director of BluSeed Studios in Saranac Lake and a full time faculty member of North Country Community College. Her newest body of work, inspired by her two past art exchanges with artists from Mazatlan Mexico, includes traditional and contemporary printmaking/papermaking methods.  After completing her Forestry Degree at Paul Smith's College in 1981, she worked with her husband David as a logger in their forestry business, V&P Forestry Co., for six years.  In 1986 she began her studies at North Country Community College, and continued on to Plattsburgh State University where she finished her B.A. in studio arts.  Vossler received her Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from Syracuse University in 1995. Her work optimizes the notion of collaboration, her experience as a logger and love for the outdoors is evident in her work.
